This small, but very nice place is located on the east coast, near to Vasiliki and Marantochori villages: the road which leads here starts in Marantochori. The quality of the narrow and windig road which leads here is varied with some defects in the asphalt, but don’t worry, it’s not as hard as at some beaches on the west coast. Amousa can be accessed from Vasiliki village also, but in this case you have to drive to Marantochori, where road signs indicate the right way to this beach.
The small bay of Ammoussa is surrounded by grey rocks and lush vegetation, showing for visitors nice views to the area. The seabed is filled primarily with white pebbles and stones, which make Ammoussa beach especially great for snorkeling in Lefkada. Small fishes, squids and other sea creatures live in these waters, so don’t forget your diving mask! Ionian Sea is usually calm here, Amousa is very well protected from the waves do to its natural breakwaters.
Behind the sea Ammousa Beach Café & Restaurant operate during summer months, where you can drink some cold refreshment or eat a meal.
The beach is also good for swimming, even if the west coast of Lefkada is characterized by big waves sometimes. In the distance you can see the mountains of other amazing Ionian Islands, such as Ithaca or Kefalonia.
