Where to find Ammoussa beach in Lefkada Island, and how to get there

The location of Ammousa beach hides this bay well from the crowds, because it is situated in a tranquil bay on the east coast of Lefkada Island. To visit Ammousa beach you have to drive to Marantochori village between Nidri and Vasiliki, because the road to the bay starts there.

The distance between Marantochori and Ammoussa beach is approx. 5 kilometers, the road is asphalted all the way. Road conditions are average, because altough this road section is narrow and winding at some places, in most cases driving is easy and not complicated at all. Its access is not as hard as some beaches on the west coast, such driving down from Kalamitsi to Kavalikefta beach.

At the end of the road, just before the beach there is a parking lot of Ammoussa, which can be used for free. You need to know boat trips and daily excursions don’t visit Ammousa beach from the port of Nidri and Vasiliki, and there are no public buses here either.

Ionian Sea is shallow here, which makes the bay safe for smaller children. Sea temperatures of Ammoussa beach are pleasant during summer months, with an averages between 24 – 27 Celsius.

The waves and nearby sea currents usually don’t influence the local sea temperatures significantly, so the water is great for snorkeling, swimming and for other beach activities. Because of the white pebbles and stones water shoes may needed.

Behind the sea and the sunbeds you can visit the local tavern, known as Ammousa Beach Café & Restaurant. This small restaurant operates during summer months, and offer cold refreshments, meals and snacks and provide shade for their guests.
