The main feature of Gialos beach is a calm atmosphere.
Gialos can be only accessed by a long, partially renewed asphalt road in the western side of Lefkada, so it is sometimes surprisingly abandoned, even in the summer months.
The route to Gialos beach starts in Athani village, which is a small settlement located in the southwestern hills of Lefkada. The road has been renewed barely a few years ago, because an earthquake destroyed some parts of the old road. As long as the road works took place, the road was closed for some months, but recently it is accessible. Anyway you must watch the road signs about actual road conditions.
The largest part of Gialos beach is unorganized, but in the summer months you can find a small beach bar and some parasols next to parking site.
In some places on the shore of Gialos beach you may have to use water shoes, because large areas of the seabed are filled with rocks and stones.
Gialos is ideal for relaxing, and enjoying pleasant sea temperatures. This beach is quiet and less crowded in most of the time, it is not so popular as Kathisma or Porto Katsiki beach on the western side of Lefkada island.
