Lygia beach (Paralia Ligia) is a varied coastline of Ligia village in Lefkada Island, which is partly organized. This type of coastline is typical on the east coast of Lefkada, where emerald coloured, usually shallow beaches can be find. One of the best features of Lygia beach is its easy access, because travellers can find these parts for swimming and diving near the main road.

Where is Lygia beach in Lefkada Island, and how to access
The village of Ligia is known as a tourist resort on the east side of Lefkada Island, which has long coastline. Most of the local apartments and studios were built near the Ionian Sea, a lot of accommodations are situated within 5 – 20 minutes walking distances from the shore.

Ligia beach lies near the main road, which leads through the village, therefore most of the parking lots can find find directly next to the road. It’s worth to know that on maps just a small bay is signed as Lygia beach, but for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing there are other small sections.

The central parts of Ligia beach are situated at the southern side of the port, approx. 250 meters away from there, literally in front of Porto Hotel Lygia.
What to find at Ligia beach, features and infos to know
Because Lygia beach is one of the east beaches in Lefkada Island, the entire coastline looks different than the western beaches. The central beach and the inner sections of Ligia are primarily characterized by coarse sand, pebbles and some rocks.

Lygia beach is organized only at a few places, which means in the main bay you can find some parasols and sunbeds for rent, but further away the coast is usually lacks these features. Some seaside apartments and studios offer sunbeds for their guests, but this is not common.
Most of the visitors of Ligia beach are families with smaller children and the tourists who stay here, because the Ionian Sea is usually calm and shallow, making ideal conditions for swimming without significant waves.

Local sea temperatures are pleasant at most of the summer months due to the calm waters, which means the averages of temperatures are between 23 – 25 Celsius from June to September. Highest temperatures are between 25 – 27 Celsius in July and in August, but we noticed that there are some periods, when sea temperatures are getting slightly cooler in the area, probably they are influenced by some local sea currents.

Due to pebbles and stones, which can be find in the seabed at some places, swimming shoes can be recommended. If you are looking for some adventure near Ligia village, visit the southern side of Ligia where a a small water park is waiting for guests from June to September. This small water park is known as Panos Water Sports & Fun Park, and offer funny water moments for smaller children.

The village of Lygia (Ligia) is a popular holiday destination for tourists, because it offers several apartments and studios for all budget, and has easy access in Lefkada Island.
Ligia has several restaurants, supermarkets and a small port, so the village is well prepared for visitors who spend their holiday in this area. The beautiful capital of Lefkada Island is also near to Ligia village (approx. 6 km away), which can be reached by car or by local buses.
