Agios Ioannis beach
Exceptional shallow sea and turquoise water colours are the main features of this beach, only a few kilometres away from the capital of Lefkada.
Agios Ioannis beach is slightly organized, there are some bars and small taverns next to the cove. The sea is shallow, so families with children come here often in the summer months. In the northern side of the beach there are some unused stone windmills, one of them operates nowadays as a beach bar. Because the beach is very close to Lefkada town, many locals is choosing this beach, and come here to enjoy the swimming in the crystal clear Ionian sea.
In the seabed there are some rocky pads and cliffs, so you must walk in the water at some places carefully. If the water surface is calm, the sea has amazing colours, with million shades of blue and green. The wide, long beach on the north side of Agios Ioannis is called as Gira, which is popular area for kitesurfers. They come here usually in the afternoon, and having fun till the sunset!
