Agios Ioannis beach

Exceptional shallow sea and turquoise water colours are the main features of Agios Ioannis beach, only a few kilometres away from the capital of Lefkada.

Agios Ioannis is a slightly organized area, there are some bars and small taverns behind the long cove. The sea is shallow here almost everywhere, so families with smaller children come here often in the summer months. In the northern side of the beach there are some unused stone windmills, one of them operates as a beach bar. Agios Ioannis beach is located very close to Lefkada town, so many locals choose this beach during summertime. They come here to enjoy the swimming in the crystal clear Ionian Sea, the trip takes only a few minutes.

Colours of Agios Ioannis beach

In the seabed there are some rocky pads and cliffs, so you must walk in the water at some places very carefully. If the water surface is calm, the sea has amazing colours, with million shades of blue and green. The long and wide beach is also a popular area for kitesurfers. The surfers come here usually in the afternoon, and having fun till sunset!

On the north side of Agios Ioannis, only about two kilometres away there is an other nice beach, called as Gira.
