Exceptional shallow sea and turquoise water colours are the main features of Agios Ioannis beach, just a few kilometres away from the capital of Lefkada.
Agios Ioannis beach is a fully organized area with great beach bars and some taverns behind the long coast. The sea is shallow here almost everywhere, so families with smaller children come here often during summer months. In the northern side of the beach there are some unused, old stone windmills, one of them, called Orloff operates as a beach bar.
Agios Ioannis beach is situated very close to Lefkada town, therefore many locals choose this beach during summertime. They come here to enjoy the swim in the crystal clear Ionian Sea, and the trip takes only a few minutes by bicycle, scooter or car.

On the north side of Agios Ioannis, only about two kilometres away there is an other nice beach, called as Gira. The small church of Agios Ioannis can be find in the southern side of the beach, hidden by the trees. This is one of the oldest and smallest churches in Lefkada island, it was carved into a rock.

The beach has great taverns and bars, one of the best restaurant of the area is called Telegraphos, which lies directly behind the main beach. The other restaurant of Agios Ioannis is Liogerma, which is closer to the small chapel, at the end of the bay.
