Lefkada is an important ferryport in Greece, because the ports of the island are stations for ferries to Kefalonia and Meganisi. Lefkada ferries use two ports for departures and arrivals, both of these are located on the east side of the island.
The main ferryports are located in Nidri and in Vasiliki villages, but the ferry routes are different. Nidri connect Lefkada with Meganisi, while Vasiliki is the primary port for ferries to Kefalonia Island.

The ferry companies changed their stations from Nidri to Vasiliki a few years ago, so if you would like to travel by ferries between Lefkada and Kefalonia in this year, you have to drive to Vasiliki village.

Where to find Nidri ferryport
The port in Nidri is the central ferry station for ferries of Meganisi Island. The port has easy access for cars, situated directly next to the famous seaside promenade, on the south coast of the village.
From north direction (from Lefkada town) you have to drive on the bypass road of Nidri, and at its end just turn towards the center of Nidri. It’s quite simple, because road signs of ‘Port’ indicate the way.

The port of Nidri is one of the most picturesque ports in Lefkada, a bustling area with great restaurants and coffee bars. The promenade is famous for is its palm trees and flowers, and of course the for famous statues of billionaire Aristotle Onassis and German archeologist Wilhelm Dörpfeld. The marina is famous for its daily boat trips as well, which visit Porto Katsiki beach and Egremni beach on the west coast of the island.
Where to find Vasiliki ferryport
The other important ferry station in Lefkada is located in Vasiliki village, which was under construction in the recent years because of an earthquake. For a few years Vasiliki was replaced by Nidri for ferries between Kefalonia and Lefkada.
Today the ferry station of Vasiliki is officially open, and in 2026 the ferries of Westferry and Ionian Pelagos, which run to Kefalonia Island, run from Vasiliki port. The new ferryport is located between the beach and the promanede of the village.
Behind te ferryport of Vasiliki you can find most restaurants and caffee bars of the village, because its pier is situated just short walk away from the seaside promenade. This area is the center of Vasiliki, offering an atmospheres of a small Greek fishing village for visitors, and it’s definitely worth for a sightseeing. From this marina daily boat excursions visit the west coast, and taxi boat run frequent to a local gem, Agiofili beach.

Where to buy ferry tickets
To buy tickets for the ferries find the small kiosks in the port of Nidri and in Vasiliki, which are located directly next to ferryports – these belong to the ferry companies. In these kiosks passengers can buy a ticket for themselves and for their vehicles also, but best way is always to book online your trip for a car or motorbike in advance!
During summer season Lefkada ferries, especially which runs to Kefalonia are filled with pre-bookings! For online bookings we linked the official websites of ferry companies on the bottom of this page. The tickets for ferries can be purchased also in local tourist offices.
If you don’t have a car, you can buy a ticket as a passenger. Booking in advance for passengers is not neccessary for Lefkada ferries, it is recommended only if you want to travel with your car. The kiosks in the ports open one hour before departure.
Since COVID-19 pandemic the Greek ferry companies had some health check and regulations, but in 2026 negative PCR or other Covid-19 test is not required – the travelling by the local ferries is quite easy and safe in Greece.

The ferryboat is called Meganisi II, which transports both cars and passengers on its deck. During high season (July – August) advance booking can be recommended for cars. The time of the trip takes just about 25 minutes. A two destinations for ferries to Meganisi are called Vathi (the capital of the island) and Spilia.

Lefkada – Kefalonia ferry (Vasiliki – Fiskardo)

If you want travel to Kefalonia island by car, motorbicycle or van, you have two options: there are two ferry companies, which operate ferries from Lefkada.
The first ferry line is operated by the Westferry company, their ferryboat is known as ‘Captain Aristidis’. In 2026 Westferry runs from Vasiliki village to Kefalonia, which is the arrival location from Fiskardo as well. Travel time between Vasiliki and Fiskardos village take about 1 hour. The ferry doesn’t run during winter months!

The another ferry, which runs between Lefkada and Kefalonia, is operated by Ionian P. Lines (Ionian Pelagos) company.
