Mikros Gialos beach (Παραλία Μικρός Γιαλός) is a wide and calm bay near Poros village in Lefkada Island, which belongs to the emerald gems of the east coast. The bay is well protected from bigger waves, and smaller children can enjoy the calm waters of the Ionian Sea as well.
The crystal clear waters of Mikros Gialos are recommended for snorkeling and diving as well, and the shallow waters are suitable also for families with children.

Where to find Mikros Gialos beach in Lefkada Island, and how to get there
Mikros Gialos beach is located on the east coast of Lefkada Island, between Nidri and Vasiliki villages. The distance from Nidri is approx. 11 kilometers, while the capital is situated 28 kilometers away from here. The access of Mikros Gialos beach is not complicated, when travelling by cars. Road signs show the way towards Poros village (Πόρος), which can be reached from the east main road.
We have to drive through the small village of Poros, from where Mikros Gialos beach is just 3 kilometers away. Road conditions are varied, because there can be find a few bends and narrow sections while driving, but this route is acceptable overall – there are much worse roads in Lefkada.
The area of Mikros Gialos beach is slightly developed by apartments and villas, most of these were built behind the beach and on top of surrounding hills. Most of free parking lots were constructed at the end of the road, but these fill up quickly during high season months. If we arrive later, it could happen that we must park somewhere next to the road, or we have to turn back, and must find empty places for parking further away from the central parts of the bay.
Daily boat trips from the port of Nidri, and from Vasiliki usually don’t sail into this bay, and there are no public buses either.

The bay of Mikros Gialos is situated at the end of a picturesque valley in Lefkada, surrounded by lush vegetation. One of the best features of this attractive place, that Mikros Gialos beach is quite wide and long cove of the east coast, with a length of 200 meters. Literally this is the longest bay on the southeast side of Lefkada Island, almost as long as Desimi beach, which is situated 11 kilometeres away from here.
Mikros Gialos beach is an organized bay, with a few lines of sunbeds, including showers and lifeguard service, which operates during high season months. The seabed is filled by white coloured pebbles and coarse sand, water shoes are not necessary everywhere.
Most parts of Mikros Gialos beach are shallow, which make the bay suitable for kids. The waters are clear and calm at most of the time, there are no such stronger waves – families with smaller children visit this bay often in Lefkada Island due for these reasons.
The best places for snorkeling and diving are situated near the grey rocks at the two edges of the bay, where marine life is more significant.
The surrounding area of Mikros Gialos beach is beautiful: the valleys are filled by lush vegetation, mediterranean trees and bushes, and interesting rock forms on both sides of the beach. The bay is awarded often in Lefkada Island with Blue Flag Awards for its services, water quality and enviroment management.
Behind Mikros Gialos beach there is one of the best campings in Lefkada, known as ‘Poros Beach Camping’. The camping is famous in the area and has old routes, founded in the ’70s – literally one of the oldest campings of the island. If you are looking for hot meals and cold drinks, behind Mikros Gialos a few restaurants and taverns awaiting for guests: Rouda Cafe-Restaurant and Marilion are open from May to September.
When you visit this charming bay in Lefkada Island, don’t forget to discover other attractions of the east coastline. The charming fishing village of Sivota is situated just 13 kilometers away, where the local restaurants and coffee bars are quite special, their look with hundreds of flowers and plants are very nice.
