Take a pleasant walk in the villages and seaside resorts of Lefkada Island, which offer true Greek atmospheres, many hiddens gems for sightseeing and wide range of accommodation options. Lefkada villages have many faces from bustling touristic areas to the calm mountain villages, enchanting thousands of travellers.
Due to local geographical conditions most of the local villages, including the famous tourist resorts are located on the east coast, which is less mountainous. The capital of the island, and also Nidri, Lygia, Nikiana, Syvota, Vasiliki are situated on the east coastline, surrounded by lower hills, lush olive forests and emerald bays.
The most popular village for travellers is Nidri and Lefkada town, where charming seaside promenades are filled by great restaurants, long pedestrian streets were built in central areas, and widest range of local shops. From the picturesque ports of Nidri and Vasiliki daily boat trips sail on the blue Ionian Sea and explore the most beautiful beaches and the islands nearby.
On the west coast an amazing destination for travellers is Agios Nikitas, an exceptional village of Lefkada Island, located near a lot of famous beaches. In the mountains the villages are smaller and more traditional: Karya, Kalamitsi, Exanthia, Athani or Egklouvi are characterized by old stonehouses, narrow roads and breathtaking panoramic views to the surroundings.
