The Blue Flag was founded in France in 1985, and the certificate become the symbol of crystal clear water quality, and also of well organized and safe beaches. In 2023 Greece has 617 Blue Flag awarded beaches, and it is a second place in the world among 49 countries. The list of the awarded beaches was released the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF).
